Seeking Volunteers
At SightLife, we love to hear from volunteers with life experiences or skills that may be of special help to our sight-restoring mission. Here are some ways that you might find satisfaction volunteering with our non-profit organization:
- Are you a cornea recipient or donor family member with a knack for public speaking (or at least a willingness to give it a try)? Your personal story could inspire and comfort others at hospital training events or at our annual donor appreciation ceremonies.
- Do you know a foreign language well enough to translate its written word into English? Each year SightLife receives letters from cornea recipients in foreign countries who would like their donor family to know of their gratitude. Your language skills could facilitate a much-desired connection between kind and deserving people.
- Do you have a story to share or an idea that would help us raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donor registration? Sharing poems or other writings abour your donation or transplant experience is equally helpful.
- Do you have a favorite photo of your loved one? If you are a cornea recipient, do you have a picture of something special you couldn't see before your transplant? It's great to have new and meaningful photos for educational and donation-awareness presentation and materials.
- Not much of a speaker or writer but still want to get involved? We often need help stuffing and sealing envelopes for mailings throughout the year, espeically during the holidays. Contact us for dates and times!
These are some of the ways that you could play a role in bringing restored vision to others. If you have an interest/idea, please contact our Family Services Coordinator, Lois Parker, via one of the options at right.
Sincerely,
Kara Petry
Director of Hospital and Family Services
